Cite everything.
Every factual claim links to a source, and where we can, the filing rather than the article about it. No number goes on this site that we cannot point to. The full list is on Citations.
Say when we do not know.
An honest open question beats a confident guess. Our still-open questions are deliberately as prominent as the confirmed facts.
Change our minds in public.
When the evidence moves, we move, and we show the edit rather than quietly revising the page.
Every card on the site is labelled: confirmed by a primary source, only announced, or genuinely unknown. Announced is never treated as committed.
Corrections & tips
Being corrected in public is cheaper than being wrong in private
Found a mistake, or have a better source?
If you have a solid source we should read, an on-the-record position we should include, or you think we have something wrong, we want to hear it. When we change a figure, we note that it changed rather than quietly editing it away.
Independence
Where we stand
Independent and unfunded.
We take no money from anyone with a side in this, not the data centres, not the developers, not any municipal, provincial or federal body, and we hold no stake in any project on this site. We are not for the boom and we are not against it. We are only trying to find out what is true. If that ever changes, if this work ever connects to a business with an interest in the outcome, that will be disclosed here, plainly, before anything else is published. We would rather lose the story than mislead you about who is behind it.
